Call for Papers Now Open for the IFAC Joint Workshops AMEST 2027 & IMS 2027.

The organizing committee of the IFAC Joint Workshops AMEST 2027 & IMS 2027 is pleased to announce the official Call for Papers for the event, which will be held in Seville, Spain, from 7 to 9 April 2027. Supported by the DIGEST project, the joint workshops will bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry leaders working at the intersection of maintenance engineering, asset management, intelligent manufacturing, and industrial digitalization.

Under the theme“From Predictive to Intelligent”, the workshops will explore the evolution from condition monitoring and diagnostics towards intelligent, human-centered decision-making, planning, scheduling, and autonomous industrial operations. Special attention will be given to emerging topics such as Human-Centered AI, Agentic AI, Multi-Agent Systems, Digital Twins, Asset Health Management, and intelligent decision-support solutions.

Authors are invited to submit original research papers, methodological contributions, industrial applications, and case studies related to:

  • Advanced maintenance engineering and asset management
  • Predictive and prescriptive maintenance
  • Condition monitoring, diagnostics and prognostics
  • Asset Health Management and Asset Performance Management
  • Intelligent and adaptive manufacturing systems
  • Smart factories and Industry 5.0
  • AI and machine learning for industrial systems
  • Human-AI collaboration in maintenance and manufacturing
  • Digital Twins and cyber-physical systems
  • Integrated production and maintenance strategies
  • Sustainable and resilient industrial systems

The organizers particularly encourage cross-disciplinary contributions addressing Human-Centered AI, Agentic AI, Digital Twins, industrial interoperability, sustainability, circular economy, and resilient industrial operations.

The workshops welcome submissions from both academia and industry, including:

  • Original research papers
  • Methodological developments
  • Industrial applications
  • Real-world case studies

Particularly encouraged are contributions that bridge scientific advances with practical industrial implementation. Accepted and presented papers will be published in IFAC-PapersOnLine and made available through ScienceDirect, providing authors with international visibility within the IFAC community.

The draft paper submission deadline is 30 November 2026, while the workshops themselves will be held from 7 to 9 April 2027.

A distinctive feature of the event will be its strong industry engagement through keynote lectures, industry tracks, tutorials, panel discussions, and application-oriented sessions. Contributions from sectors such as energy, railways, manufacturing, process industries, aeronautics, and critical infrastructures are especially welcome. Confirmed keynote speakers include:

  • Ajith Kumar Parlikad (University of Cambridge, UK)
  • Anders Skoogh (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden)
  • Rosa Nieto (Enagás, Spain)
  • Gonzalo Santamaría Freire (ISDEFE, Spain)

The event is supported by the DIGEST project, which promotes the use of digital technologies and advanced analytics to improve asset management practices. The workshop themes closely align with DIGEST’s research interests in Digital Twins, asset health assessment, intelligent maintenance, and data-driven industrial decision-making.
