DIGEST to Host the Joint IFAC AMEST–IMS 2027 Workshops in Seville

DIGEST is pleased to announce that the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) has officially approved the organization of the joint 7th IFAC Workshop on Advanced Maintenance Engineering, Services and Technologies (AMEST 2027) and the 17th IFAC Workshop on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS 2027), which will be held in Seville (Spain) from 7 to 9 April 2027.
The approval represents an important international recognition of the scientific excellence and organizational capacity of the DIGEST research group and its partners. The event will bring together leading researchers, industrial experts, and practitioners from around the world to discuss the latest advances in intelligent maintenance, digital asset management, Industry 5.0, digital twins, predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and smart manufacturing.
The joint workshops will be chaired by Prof. Adolfo Crespo Márquez (University of Seville) as National Organizing Committee Chair, while Prof. Marco Macchi (Politecnico di Milano) will lead the International Program Committee. The event will be organized with the support of the international IFAC Technical Committees, providing an outstanding platform for scientific exchange and collaboration between academia and industry.
Hosting AMEST and IMS together creates a unique opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the maintenance engineering, manufacturing systems, reliability, and asset management communities. The conference will promote interdisciplinary research and foster discussion on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, industrial data analytics, autonomous maintenance, and resilient manufacturing systems.
The organization of this international event is one of the strategic dissemination and networking activities of the DIGEST research group and reinforces its commitment to advancing Engineering Asset Management and Digital Maintenance through international cooperation. The workshops are expected to attract participants from universities, research centres, and industrial organizations worldwide, further consolidating Seville as an international meeting point for research and innovation in industrial digitalization.
The official approval by IFAC marks the beginning of the organizational phase, including the preparation of the Call for Papers, the scientific programme, and the international promotion of the event, whose proceedings will be published in the IFAC-PapersOnLine open-access series hosted by ScienceDirect.
