«From Interviews to Insights» seminar

Yesterday, we held our seminar on coding, annotation, and text analysis for semi-qualitative research. The session was designed for doctoral researchers who need to navigate the transition from qualitative data collection to quantitative synthesis. We walked through the pipeline of turning raw text into actionable data. The discussion covered how to develop formal coding schemas, prepare data for statistical ingestion, and use frameworks like Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test relationships between themes. We also looked at how to integrate tools like NVivo with R or Python to make the process reproducible.
A key part of the conversation was the «ethics of reductionism.» We discussed how to quantify qualitative data rigorously while ensuring we don’t lose the essential voice of the participants.
