On November 20th, DIGEST held the newest session of our Coordinated PhD Seminars: «Algoritmo de generación de columnas: Aplicación a problemas de corte unidimensional.»
During the seminar, we explored both the theoretical foundations of column generation and its practical applications in industrial settings. Participants saw how the method can break down large-scale optimization problems into manageable subproblems, allowing for more precise, efficient, and scalable solutions. We also highlighted real-world examples, including production planning and resource allocation scenarios, where column generation consistently outperforms traditional approaches—reducing waste, improving utilization, and streamlining complex decision-making processes.
