Last week, we had an incredible opportunity to participate in the 19th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management (ICIEIM) and the XXIX Congreso de Ingeniería de Organización. It was an opportunity for scientific collaboration, promoting a unique forum to disseminate, to all branches of academy and industry, information on the most recent and relevant research, theories and practices in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management. The conference motto of this edition was «Data Science: Challenges and applications in Industrial Engineering», which underlined data management as a driving mechanism for optimizing decision-making and enhancing efficiency and performance.
It was an honor to attend and present a paper, marking a significant step in our research within the DIGEST project. The conference, hosted by ADINGOR and organized by the Department of Industrial Engineering & Business Management of the Universidad de Sevilla (Spain), took place at the ETSI-Engineering School on the Campus Cartuja in Seville, from July 3rd to 4th, 2025.
During the conference, Carlos García-Castellano Gerbolés presented our paper titled «Decision transformer as a classifier for the Iris dataset: A preliminary study.» This work wouldn’t have been possible without the essential support and guidance of José Costas, Raúl Pino, and Miguel Gutiérrez. Sofía Veldman also had the opportunity to present our work titled «Dynamic routing of aerial vehicles for maritime surveillance: A discrete vs. continuous time approach.» This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable collaboration and guidance of Miguel Ortega Mier, Miguel Gutiérrez, and Álvaro Herráiz Solla.
