Presentation of a paper at International Engineering Conference

We are pleased to announce that Carlos García-Castellano Gerbolés, along with co-authors Miguel Gutiérrez, Miguel Ortega Mier, and Joaquín Ordieres Meré, has presented a significant research paper at the 18th International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management (XXVIII Congreso de Ingeniería de Organización) held in Madrid, Spain, from the 4th to the 5th of July 2024.

The paper, titled «Exploring the Adoption and Application of Transformer Models in Manufacturing Scheduling,» delves into the innovative use of Transformer-based learning algorithms in the context of manufacturing scheduling.

In their research, the authors investigate the current landscape of Transformer model applications within the manufacturing sector, identifying specific industries and scheduling problems where these models are being implemented. The study involves a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature, assessing methodologies used for data extraction and insights gained from these studies. The research highlights a promising yet underexplored area that offers substantial opportunities for innovation in industrial operations management.

This paper forms an integral part of the DIGEST project, showcasing its commitment to advancing digitalization as a key enabler for asset management and industrial optimization.
