New Digital Europe work programme for 2025-2027
This Work Programme (WP) 2025-2027 of the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is the last one for the duration of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. It is focused on realizing and ensuring the sustainability of actions started and pursued under the previous WPs, such as various data spaces, bringing them from the preparatory to the deployment phase.
Actions under this WP will support technologies, infrastructures and other capacities and capabilities that are strategically important for Europe’s future, and in particular will achieve the following objectives:
• Support AI Factories under EuroHPC JU and, among others, the next step in the evolution of Destination Earth initiative contributing to climate and environment protection challenges, in line with EU Adaptation Strategy, while providing additional services to more users, while ensuring technical interoperability with integration and deployment of new Digital Twins.
• Ensure the deployment of sectorial common data spaces based on the secure and energy-efficient federated cloud-to-edge infrastructure that are accessible by businesses and the public sector throughout the EU, setting the technological cornerstones for the deployment of AI; European data spaces are the indispensable means for the implementation of AI Factories.
• Help deliver the goals of the Apply AI Strategy by rapid scaling up and intensification of the adoption of AI technologies in Europe and substantially contributing to the rollout of Generative AI applications, AI use in the Health and Care sector, as well as virtual worlds test beds; ensure enforcement of the world’s first-ever all-encompassing AI law, the AI Act.
• ESIDES support the European Digital Innovation Hubs – EDIH as the mean for large-scale deployment targeted by Apply AI Strategy supporting private and public organizations all across Europe, including government at national, regional, or local level, in their digital transformation.
• Enhance the preparedness and resilience of key sectors and response actions at EU level to cyber threats. Security solutions will contribute to making the critical infrastructures for global communications, like submarine cables, more resilient and secure.
This program becomes a great opportunity for cooperation between research teams, based on the current experience gained through the DIGEST project.
