Impact

The DIGEST project aims to create long-term impact by enhancing asset management and operational efficiency across industrial sectors. Its goals include positioning DIGEST as a trusted source of innovative solutions, fostering collaboration with other initiatives, and ensuring the widespread adoption of its findings. The project will focus on raising awareness, engaging key stakeholders, and sharing its results through publications, events, and partnerships. By maximizing the reach and applicability of its innovations, DIGEST aims to drive sustainable, industry-wide change.

Scientific Community (Universities, Research Institutes)

Message and Goal: The DIGEST project aims to advance the understanding of asset management by integrating data management with dynamic decision-making for industrial systems. Our research is focused on improving predictive maintenance strategies and operational scheduling in industrial environments, with a particular focus on extending asset lifespans and optimizing costs. The project aligns with Industry 5.0 principles by incorporating human-centered approaches alongside advanced digital tools.

Channel/Tools: Scientific publications, conference papers, presentations at scientific events, collaborations with other research projects.

KPIs:
· Scientific papers published
· Conference papers presented
· Regular updates shared via LinkedIn and other social media platforms to engage with the scientific community

Industry Professionals (Other Industrial Sectors)

Message and Goal: The DIGEST project seeks to demonstrate how integrating advanced asset management tools can drive efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize operational costs. Through the use of data-driven decision-making models, we aim to offer industry professionals innovative tools for planning, scheduling, and predictive maintenance. This will ultimately enhance production efficiency and reduce operational risks.

Channel/Tools: Presentations at industry conferences, direct outreach to industrial networks (via LinkedIn, industry mailing lists…), social media.

KPIs:
· Participation in conferences or events (including industrial-specific events)
· Joint events with companies through partnerships or alliances
· Impressions on LinkedIn and members reached
· Impressions on X.com

General Public (Non-specialist Audiences, Media)

Message and Goal: The DIGEST project aims to increase awareness of how digital tools can optimize industrial asset management and contribute to the sustainability of production processes. Through engaging public articles and media outreach, the goal is to inform a wider audience about the significance of asset management in modern industries, and how these innovations align with broader societal goals such as reducing environmental impact and enhancing efficiency.

Channel/Tools: Website, social media.

KPIs:
· Articles targeted at a wider public audience shared via LinkedIn
· Website traffic tracking
· Social media platforms to increase engagement with industry-related content

End-Users (Manufacturers, Assets Managers, Maintenance Teams)

Message and Goal: Our tools and methodologies aim to help end-users—such as asset managers, planners, and maintenance teams—make more informed, data-driven decisions about maintenance and production scheduling. By offering practical, evidence-based solutions, we will support organizations in extending the useful life of assets, reducing maintenance costs, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Channel/Tools: Targeted communications, presentations at conferences.

KPIs:
· Ongoing social media outreached, networking, and mailing lists
· Invitations to participate in specialized workshops and conference sessions

Other Sectors (Cross-industry)

Message and Goal: While the primary focus is on industrial asset management in the manufacturing sector, the DIGEST project’s findings have potential for cross-sector application in industries such as automotive, energy, and process industries (e.g., aluminum, glass, paper). The project seeks to demonstrate how asset management solutions can be transferred to sectors with similar challenges in planning, maintenance, and scheduling.

Channel/Tools: Individual outreach, websites, cross-industry conferences, collaborations.

KPIs:
· Website and social media interactions to encourage dialogue with other sectors
· Participation in events with cross-industry audience

The Exploitation Plan

The DIGEST project does not include a dedicated exploitation work package, but these activities are related to WP1, while publications are expected from most of the activities in any work package. Key goals include:

Market Application Analysis

We will assess the market potential and replication possibilities for the project’s solutions, focusing on manufacturing sectors. The goal is to identify key barriers, risks, and opportunities for broader implementation across EU industrial sectors.

Transferability to Other Sectors

Our findings and tools, initially focused on manufacturing, will be evaluated for their applicabilitiy in other industried like automotive, energy, and heavy manufacturing, where similar asset management and maintenance challenges exist.

Intellectual Property (IPR) Management

A strategy will be developed to manage intellectual property across the consortium, ensuring that the results of the DIGEST project are protected and can be leveraged for commercial purposes. We will establish a robust IPR strategy to protect the innovations developed in the project and to ensure fair and efficient distribution of rights among partners. This will help facilitate the commercialization and sustainability of the project outcomes.

Open-Source Community Engagement

As part of the project’s outreach, we will initiate an open-source community around the software tools and methodologies developed. This will ensure the continued development, improvement, and adoption of the DIGEST solutions beyond the project’s lifetime.

Whitepaper

A whitepaper will be produced summarizing the project’s key outcomes, the potential impact on the industry, and a market transferability assessment. This document will be shared with key stakeholders and industry decision-makers to ensure wider adoption and exploitation of the results.

IP and Results Management

Protecting the intellectual property (IP) generated by the project is crucial for retaining current industry partners and attracting new ones to help commercialize and exploit the developed technologies. The IP management strategy includes agreements between partners on IP and licensing, as well as support for safeguarding existing IP through patent counsel. It also involves identifying new inventions and quickly preparing patent applications, with assistance from IP-trained researchers and approved patent advisors. Partners will conduct bi-annual reviews to assess the status of both existing and emerging IP. All partners will actively pursue patenting and licensing opportunities arising from the project.

Given that exploitation obligations extend for up to four years after the project’s completion, the partnership has agreed to base the exploitation of results on two guiding principles. Firstly, IP owners may choose to jointly exploit their rights by forming commercial ventures or licensing the technology to third parties for royalty-based agreements. Secondly, IP owners may facilitate the creation of spin-offs or start-ups by transferring their IP rights to these new companies, following fair and reasonable compensation terms. A formal agreement outlining these terms could be developed during or after the project, to be signed by all relevant parties.
